When the COVID-19 crisis resulted in New Zealand going into Level Four Lockdown, GDM were called on to provide fixtures for some of our country’s essential stores and services. Our team had to be incredibly agile, turning products around quickly from the initial customer enquiry to delivery.
Supermarkets were at the frontline during this crisis. They had to quickly ensure their staff and customers were protected and all steps taken to prevent further spread of the virus. We created and installed 400 service counter screens at short notice for Foodstuffs’ Pak n Save and New World Stores across the North Island. It was all hands-on deck when this order came through, with less than a day to make the screens. Full credit to our staff who worked quickly and safely to get these products completed.
Just prior to lockdown we also received an urgent request from Springvale Pharmacy, one of New Zealand’s highest volume script pharmacies, for a service counter kiosk so they could continue to trade. The kiosk was enclosed on the front and sides to protect staff when in close contact with customers. A one-way drawer integrated into the kiosk allowed for EFTPOS transactions and to pass products safely from the staff side of the counter through to customers.
We have also produced hand sanitiser dispenser stands for Mitre 10, Cotton On and Fonterra Farm Source. In Mitre 10’s case, 320 stands have been designed, manufactured and distributed. Cotton On ordered a smaller quantity of similar stands for their distribution centres. Fonterra Farm Source ordered over 200 wall mounted sanitising stations for their store entrances and staff back of house. Again, our team completed a quick turnaround to get these designed, manufactured and distributed so essential stores could continue to operate.
