Fresh look puts focus on the food

December 15, 2020

At the 2020 RED Awards, GDM were thrilled to receive the Big Box Award for New World Pukekohe. It is a new design initiative led by Foodstuffs North Island. The concept and approach to supermarkets was led by prioritising the human experience and integrating this into the existing New World Fresh First philosophy.

The project provides the quality of design that reflects the New World brand’s quality of product, while creating a convenient and enjoyable experience. The new look balances the commercial requirements of a large format retail operation but understands that food and beverage retail has links to socialisation. It sought to establish and deepen relationships with the customers by exposing them to new experiences and products. Celebrating the theatre of operation and food manufacturing, allowing the food to be the focus, constantly leading with fresh throughout the store and creating a space that customers looked forward to visiting were key elements that set the new store experience apart from the competition

GDM completed the design, manufacture, and installation of the Bakery and Produce fixtures, along with new signage elements throughout the store.

‘’Foodstuffs North Island engaged GDM to work with the Store Development team to deliver a range of new fixtures and signage elements for NW Pukekohe.

One of the keys to the success of the project was GDM delivering to the two key principles of creating a ‘market look and feel’ as well drive cost out of the fixtures package.

The new fixtures and signage elements have resulted in a happy store operator and customers.’’
